Jewish Wedding Help

So, you're going to a Jewish wedding...

Is this your first Jewish wedding? No worries, we have you covered! Here are a few things you might be curious about.

Kippah/ Yarmulke

The little hats Jewish men wear to honor G-d. All of the moms, their friends and family helped to hand sew moon kippot for the wedding.

Ketubah

A Jewish wedding contract. It is signed and hung in the house and is usually beautifully designed. It is signed by close family friends. Brynne and Bonnie worked together to create a Ketubah that reflects the personalities and values of Brynne and Dakota.

Chuppah

A canopy that is used for the bride and groom to get married under. It represents the open hospitality tent that Abraham where welcomed guests. Brynne’s mom, Bonnie, made the chuppah we will use at the ceremony. She used pieces of wedding dress fabric and bling from ancestors of both Brynne and Dakota’s family.

Brynne’s side:

  • Mommom’s (great grandmother)
  • Alida’s (great great aunt)
  • Mammaw’s (grandmother)
  • Bonnie’s (Brynne’s mother)
  • Ruthie’s (Brynne’s sister)

Dakota’s Side:

  • Meme (grandmother)

With each new marriage in the family, Bonnie will utilize pieces of the bride’s dress, fashioning them into flowers with leaves embroidered with each couple’s name and wedding date.
